Indian skipper Rohit Sharma revealed the reason behind playing three spinners in the 2nd ODI against Australia in Vizag. Winning the toss, Australia opted to bowl against India.
Team India made two changes to their playing 11 from the 1st ODI, as Rohit Sharma and Axar Patel replaced Ishan Kishan and Shardul Thakur. On the other hand, the Australian team brought in Alex Carey and Nathan Ellis for Josh Inglis and Glenn Maxwell.
Speaking to the broadcasters, about the idea behind playing three spinners, the Indian skipper said they want to try a few things in home conditions keeping the World Cup in mind.
“If we win the toss, I thought we could do something with three spinners if we bowl first. I think it will still turn in the second innings. And three spinners are something we might go within the World Cup, so we want to try,” Rohit Sharma said.

Rohit Sharma further continued that there are pressure situations when they play for India–and added it is more important to stay calm in the crunch moments of the game.
“Every game you play for India is a pressure game, so you got to stay calm and make the right decision. We have tried to remain calm in the last few ODI series we have played,” he stated.
India made a disastrous start as all the top-order batters fell cheaply. Indian batters found no answers whatsoever to Mitchell Starc’s fiery opening spelling. Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowler for Australia picking a 5-wicket haul.
It Would Be A Slight Challenge For Rohit Sharma – Sachin Tendulkar On India’s Challenges in WTC Finals
Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar shared an interesting piece of advice for Indian skipper Rohit Sharma going into the World Test Championship final in England. Sachin wanted the Indian team management to play to their strengths in the WTC final in a bid to have the right balance in the team.
“It would be slightly challenging for a captain to have extra spinners in the team to get the balance right. I am only thinking from India’s point of view, let Australians do what they want to do. We stand a very good chance,” Sachin told in India Today Conclave.
India will take on Australia in the 2023 WTC Final at Kensington Oval in June. This will be the second straight final for India, who lost the inaugural edition’s final to New Zealand in 2023
